Intranet DNS Lookups Not Working
Problem
DNS lookups for resources outside the intranet work fine but lookups for any intranet (specifically domain) resources fail.
Solution
- Make sure you have administrative rights
- Remove all keys below HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DnsClient\DnsPolicyConfig
- Restart the DNS Cache
Note: This is a workaround because the issue can/will re-occur. The cause is unknown. It may have something to do with DirectAccess. However it has occurred in environments where DirectAccess is not being used.
