Adams Web Compatibility View Issues

If Adams Web is exhibiting odd behavior.  Particularly on the Assets page.  It may be one of the following issues or something else.

Problem 1

Adams Web is displaying the Thumbnail and Full View images in the vertical orientation (like what is seen in Thumbnail View).  The thumbnails in Thumbnail and Full view should display in a horizontal aspect.  In Full View only one and a half thumbnails are displayed due to this issue.

Problem 2

The user attempts to zoom into a region on an image in Adams Web while in Full View on the Assets page.  They receive a Message from the webpage error: Atalasoft DotImage Error.

Cause

This is caused by the browser being forced into compatibility view.  Adams Web supports Internet Explorer (IE) in Standards Mode not Compatibility View.  Several different settings can do this.  They include:

  • IE->Tools->Compatibility View Settings->Display all websites in Compatibility View
  • IE->Tools->Compatibility View Settings->Display intranet sites in Compatibility View
  • Group Policy -> Turn on Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode

Solution

IE->Tools->Compatibility View Settings

Do not use either "Display all websites in Compatibility View" or "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View".  Instead add specific sites to the "Websites you've added to the Compatibility View" list.

Group Policy

The group policy setting that forces IE into compatibility view is:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Compatibility View > Turn on Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode

If there are some sites that need Compatibility View they can be explicitly added via this group policy:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Compatibility View > Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites
