DHCP is set to 0.0.0.0

Issue

The user attempts to open Digital Workplace and is prompted to login even though the login has never been required.  The login does not work and acts as if the user is not in the correct domain.  No connection to the internet can be made, so the user would need to check the network and DHCP settings.

The problem is that the Default Gateway is set to 0.0.0.0 after an update due to Apple's Bonjour service and does not reset properly:

Resolution

To resolve this issue you can: 1) Delete Bonjour service to ensure this doesn't happen again (recommended), 2) stop Bonjour service and set it to start manually, or 3) follow the steps listed below to clear the route:

  1. Click Start button and type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation
  2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
       route delete 0.0.0.0
  3. Close the command prompt window

This does not ensure that the Bonjour service will never create the route again as this depends on the sequence of events under ‘Cause’ occurring. If this happens again, follow the above steps to remove the route.
