Process in Default Application doesn't work or opens in wrong application for images

Problem

When "Process in Default Application" or "Open in External Application" is selected for an image either an error is given (non fatal) or the wrong application is opened.

Solution

The file type association for TIF must be set.

To set the file type association go to: Windows Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->File Types

The problem is that all images are converted to TIF format for opening in external apps. The file type association for TIF must be set. The original file type of the image asset (JPG, BMP, etc.) does not need the association set.
