Repository Files and Folders Owned by Local Administrators Group

Problem

Files and Folders created in the repository by ADAMS are owned by the Local Administrators group rather than the Repository Owner (adams admin) account.

Solution 1

Make sure the CREATOR OWNER account for the drive has the "Take Ownership" permission set to Allow. A reboot is necessary if this has to be changed.

  1. Right click on drive letter -> Properties -> Security -> Advanced -> Change Permissions...
  2. Select CREATOR OWNER -> Edit...

Solution 2

Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Setting\Local Policies\Security Options\

  1. System objects: Default owner for objects created by members of the Administrators group.

    Options: Object Creator or Administrators Group

    Must be set to Object Creator

    The above policy may be the issue if newly created files and folders and owner by something other than the create/owner.


  2. If a change in this policy doesn't stick after a reboot then a domain group policy change may be necessary.
