Digital Camera Lens
A macro lens is required to photograph latent impressions properly. (Macro lenses are optimized optically for extremely close focusing distances, and they typically have a magnification ratio of 1:1 (with a wider magnification ratio can distort the minute features in a latent impression), and a minimum focusing distance under (closer than) 12 inches.
Typically, latent prints are photographed using a fixed focal length lens. For example, use a Nikon camera with a Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro NIKKOR AF ED Lens. For Canon cameras, use a Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8L Macro.
