The Photoshop (PS) icon appears in Digital Workplace (DW) but an image will not open in Photoshop. |
Solution
Things to check:
- Verify that PS will run by clicking on the shortcut in the start menu, and desktop if applicable.
- When PS is open, verify on the About screen that it is the 32-bit version (in 2017 CC,
Help > About Photoshop CC
). - Right click the shortcut, and verify the target path is correct, typically "
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Photoshop.exe
" - Verify that the TIF file association is correct in Windows. From Windows Explorer, click on
tools > folder options > file types
. Browse to tif. Verify that it is set to open with PS. - Make sure that Windows knows the path to Photoshop. To do this go to Start->Run and type Photoshop.exe. If this doesn't open Photoshop then check the registry. Make sure the following is present "
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Photoshop.exe
". This key should exist and should have the following values:- (Default), REG_SZ, <FULL PATH TO PHOTOSHOP.EXE> - Ex:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Photoshop.exe
- Path, REG_SZ, <FULL PATH TO PHOTOSHOP DIRECTORY> - Ex:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\
- (Default), REG_SZ, <FULL PATH TO PHOTOSHOP.EXE> - Ex:
- Run Photoshop as Administrator then close Photoshop. In some cases, this causes Photoshop to correct its registry entries.
