  1. Ensure that Photoshop is installed and can open outside of Adams Web or Digital Workplace.

    1. From the Windows Run command, type Photoshop to see if Photoshop will open.  If it doesn't, then it needs to be reinstalled or repaired.
    2. On 64-bit machines, there are two different versions of Photoshop.  To check the version, look at the Photoshop > Help > About dialog.  The 32-bit version will say 32-bit or x86 in parentheses after the version number.  The 64-bit version does not have anything in parentheses.
      1. For Adams Web, ensure the 64-bit version of Photoshop is installed and opens.

      2. For Digital Workplace, ensure the 32-bit version of Photoshop is installed and opens.  On a 64-bit machine, Adobe requires that the 64-bit version be installed.  The 32-bit version has to be downloaded and installed after that.

      3. Starting with CC 2019, there is no 32-bit version so CC 2019 and later cannot be used with Digital Workplace.
  2. Close Digital Workplace and Adams Bridge and then run Photoshop once as administrator. Close Photoshop before trying to process again in Adams Web or Digital Workplace.

    1. Right click on Photoshop.exe > Run as administrator

  3. If the Photoshop installer has a Repair option, then use it.  (see Programs and Features)

  4. Try the Photoshop Connector tool (see Foray Dropbox\Shared\Support\Tools\OpenFileInPhotoshop)
    1. Step 1 tests opening Photoshop
    2. Step 2 tests communicating with Photoshop through the method used in Adams Web starting with version 5.11.  Digital Workplace does not use this methodIn the File Path box, enter a path and image file name to open
    3. Select Open File
    4. If Photoshop does not open, then try these steps:
      1. In the Photoshop Path box enter the full path to the Photoshop.exe
      2. Select Open File again
      3. If Photoshop still does not open, then it is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
      4. If Photoshop opens, then that means just the path registry entries are corrupted.  Follow the remaining steps to resolve that.
  5. For Digital Workplace, enable debugging and look at the debuglog.txt file to see if a plugin is found.  Look for LoadPlugin.  The registry keys are a version number under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Photoshop.  Look at the ApplicationPath field.  If the registry key is missing or the ApplicationPath is incorrect, then Photoshop's installation is corrupted. Here are the registry version numbers.
