Problem - Not allowed to run signed applications
When navigating to the Assets page a new tab opens and a dialog appears to download Adams Bridge, however the dialog shows an error rather than the option to install.
In the details for the dialog it says:
Your Web browser settings do not allow you to run signed applications.
Solution
This solution applies to ADAMS® versions before 8.1 and Bridge before 4.0.
While the literal interpretation of the message is that the "Run components signed with Authenticode" security setting is set to Disable, the most likely cause is that Adams Web is being mapped to the wrong Internet Zone. To verify the zone:
Open Adams Web
Then got to:
Internet Options → Security → Local Intranet → Sites → AdvancedMake sure that the server is correctly specified under websites. See the following KBs for more info.
To manually configure a workstation see: https://foray.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FAD/pages/14221541
To configure via Group Policy see: Set Local Intranet Sites List via Domain Group Policy
Problem 2 - 500 Error
Adams Bridge fails to download and the details reveal a 500 error.
Solution
This solution applies to ADAMS® versions before 8.1 and Bridge before 4.0.
This can be caused by a bad web.config file for the Default Web Site. To test:
Rename
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\web.configto have a~on the end.Restart both the DefaultAppPool and AdamsBridgePool in IIS Manager
Try downloading Adams Bridge.
If the above works then:
Remove the
~from the web.config filename.Edit web.config to fix the error.
Restart both the DefaultAppPool and AdamsBridgePool in IIS Manager
Try downloading Adams Bridge.
