Set Local Intranet Sites List via Domain Group Policy

This article applies to ADAMS® versions pre-8.1

Prior to 8.1, when the Adams Web server is not identified as a local intranet set web browsers will block the installation of Adams Bridge. To force the Adams Web server to be identified as a local intranet site set the group policy below.

Follow these steps to create a group policy object for the domain that will set the Local Intranet Sites list in IE.

This is the domain group policy equivalent of the following:

IE > Internet Options > Settings > Internet Options > Security > Local intranet > Sites > Advanced

or

Chrome > Settings > Advanced > Open proxy settings > Security > Local intranet > Sites > Advanced

To add the domain, a machine, or a site to the local intranet sites list do the following:

  1. On the domain controller open Group Policy Management

  2. Group Policy Management -> Forest -> Domains -> domain -> Group Policy Objects -> Default Domain Policy -> (right click) Edit…

  3. Group Policy Management Editor

  4. Default Domain Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Internet Explorer -> Internet Control Panel -> Security Page

  5. (right hand pane) double click Site to Zone Assignment List

  6. Site to Zone Assignment List Properties

  7. Select Enabled

  8. Show…

  9. Add…

  10. Name:

    Ex1: http://*.mydomain.local
    Ex2: https://*.mydomain.local


  11. Value: 1 (this is for Local Intranet)

  12. OK

  13. OK

  14. Close Group Policy Management Editor

  15. Close Group Policy Management

  16. A workstation reboot is required for the policy to be applied. Local edits on the workstation will no longer be possible.
